How strict is the drinking age on cruise ships?
So I'm going on a cruise to Alaska with my family in July, August time frame. I understand that most cruise ships under-age drinking is 21. All except for one person is over 21 in my party (my little brother is 20). We are in a place where the legal drinking age is 18 +, so we are very used to having the whole family out of social drinks. Just curious if anyone was able to bend the rules on cruise lines, mainly of the princess and / or cruise line Holland America.
You all know who is correct a little. I was on NCL with my cousin when we were 20 and not yet care b / c legal drinking age of St. Martin was 16. Caribbean and international waters. but ceased to serve us once we got a short distance from Miami. You do not have a problem with that if they were really reaching international waters, but when confronted the coast of Alaska (as opposed to the Caribbean islands) you will remain in U.S. waters. However, you can eat a bottle of vodka in your luggage (always and when you are over 21). You bring a water bottle and keep refilling. If you get a soda card, you can mix and match. And the last night of cruise return all the alcohol purchased on board. We finished with 2 extra bottles (which meant he had to wake up at 5:30 to declare to the customs) so instead Our group stayed up all night and drank 2 bottles and saw the Miami come into view. Now, as wine with dinner, I care for everyone. At dinner, everyone who bought alternated wine (including minors) and no one cared b / c that parents are present. That was the Carnival and NCL though. Do not know about Holland America, but from the whole world in the Netherlands is 60 + I doubt you would notice even if it is around the water bottle full of rum.
