going on a Western Caribbean cruise:)?
Im going on a cruise on the Carnival Conquest May, is my first time. I just want to see if anyone has any ideals for me, what to bring, what to do, or anything else! thanks:)
Kyle had a very comprehensive answer on packing, so I have nothing to add to that, but snorkeling equipment. Buy your own snorkel gear and you can walk to a beach for snorkeling. You can also buy a camera waterproof before you go. They are disposable on the boat for about 3 times more than they would at Walmart in advance. Pack a safety line – most of the people to open a hole in the card room and only carry around your neck. I carry a baby backpack on the islands. Really do not overpack. Do not wear clothes during the day. Swimwear and cover-up is my "day wear". I know I will be buying a shirt at a port. The clothing for the night. They have 2 nights formal – maxi dresses women and men in khaki pants most nights, formal attire is the norm. No shorts, shirts, casual wear super after 6. Take a light jacket in case the wind (and the plane). Bring workout clothes if you go to the gym. You go from Galveston. I've never been to Jamaica, but look for Cruise Critic examinations. If you read the reviews of the exact ship / cruise you are going, many people review their shore excursions as well. Grand Cayman is nice. The coastal route is better in my opinion is Stingray City. You can feed the stingrays. They cool against her. It's an incredible experience. They have numerous trips to Stingray City so read the description carefully. The snorkeling tours here turn out to be the cheapest but if you have your own computer you can book one when get off the ship for cheaper than the barrier reef. Seven Mile beach is absolutely gorgeous, but not a book tour – take a taxi. It will be much more cheaper than $ 30 per person to take a taxi there. Cozumel is one of my favorite ports of call. In my opinion, has some of the best snorkeling. I love go to Chankanaab Park even has an entrance fee. The fish are there, however – more than any other place I've been snorkeling. Cozumel is also a place of large purchases – the best shopping in all its ports. A place to eat lunch is Pancho's Backyard. It's incredible. Gorgeous place really enjoy the food Best of Cozumel. I have to admit – The Amazing Race Cozumel shore excursions catches my eye as something that would really be a unique experience. ATV tours can be booked far cheaper outside the spacecraft. That is not my cup of tea personally. People come back completely covered in mud. But I will say that everyone seems happy about it. They could not say enough about how much fun it was. I have also done the Clear Kayak trip. One of my favorites that I've ever done. My husband and I raft lot but did not have any problems for the spacecraft. My husband and I have also made the trip snuba. He loved it. It's a good mix of diving and snorkeling. You have a scuba regulator, but as not taking the tank. I had a hard time to keep myself in the background and the only reason that is not too much of it in Honduras was b / c there were not many fish, but not definitively I consider myself somewhere else. My next trip I plan to tour zip line. They have stunning views. I'd like to research first and make sure I'm picking one that is long enough and loud enough to be worth it. Most ports of call have an embargo. I've never done the rides though I can not comment on that. But I think you could book in itself for much less than $ 100 per person. My suggestion to those who should be avoided: Breaks beach jeep rental, shopping. Beach breaks you are paying for a taxi. Not that it will lead to a great beach and is haunted by the locals who want braids for $ 5, $ 50 for jet-ski rental, $ 70 for parasailing. It is endless and not relax at all. Jeeps … if you wanted to drive a jeep around that could do it at home. Or call a rental company and yourself. Shopping tours, you could walk to the store itself. Why do you need to pay for it? The difference between making a trip ground through the spacecraft and on your own is simple. It is cheaper to book without going through the ship. Often going to the same place. But the book through the ship has some advantages – if something happens you have a way to recover the money rather than have a guarantee that the ship will not go without you. If your trip is a flat tire, the ship awaits. You can weigh the two and make your own decision. Many of us in this forum feel the price savings is worth it, but on an excursion to drink (as Party Bus and Pub Crawl) seems definitely worth having nannies to ensure that new and have been in a boat a couple of times, when we expected to return.
