What is the protocol or ettiquet wedding invitation for a Disney Cruise Island?
Our son is getting married next year and has planned a Disney Wonder cruise / island wedding Ceremony. We not having any additional reception when they come home and all family and friends live far away of them. We do not even live in the same state as our son and future daughter in law. We realize that most friends and relatives unable to attend. However, How can we handle the guest list, without hurting anyone's feelings? I gave him a list of about 20 people. He said he only invited a handful. Should we send ads to others? Our friends and family are scattered across the continent. Over the years we have seen and / or send gifts to hundreds of relatives and friends. We are a large and close knit family.
It is ultimately the people who provide funds for the big wedding for the results should be, and the dictates of budget count. You should never send out an invitation unless you are willing to let the guests as your guests, and pay the associated price. If you are willing to provide sufficient funds to cover an extensive list, you should send invitations to family members you can afford. If such funds can not afford to provide more guests, then you should not send the invitations. Instead, you should consider sending notices after the extended family wedding. Include pictures of the bride and groom (only to them, you do not want to show the "lucky few" who received an invitation) and specify the date and general location of the wedding. Before the wedding, send an informal "life update" letter to his extended family, including going to attend the wedding of his son (general list, as a date of "late October"), but the circumstances require us to be a small private affair (work on the text of his son and daughter). Once this matter has been resolved, I wish you and your son of a stress-free time planning the wedding! (Hey, we can dream)
